Ein sehr aufwändig gestaltetes Animationsvideo namens „The Story of Cap & Trade“ („Die Geschichte des Emissionshandels“) aus den USA zeigt auf, dass der Klimawandel auf diese Weise sicherlich nicht gestoppt werden kann.
Sicher ist dagegen, dass mithilfe des Handelssystems Energiekonzerne ihre Gewinne weiter in ungeahnte Höhen schrauben können, ohne dabei etwas für die Umwelt tun zu müssen. Die Teufel stecken vor allem im Detail. In den USA hat das Handelssystem daher schon den Spitznamen „Cap & Giveaway“ erhalten.
